Will HARRY JAYAWARDENA lose his entire business helm

Post by soileconomy on Thu Jun 22, 2017 7:37 am

With the expected new venture with debt ridden SRI LANKAN Airlines which records billions of losses year on year will he loose his business empire?
Or he will be able to turnaround the debt ridden company ?
Is there any lease rights which is going to be matured near future?
Why he is eyeing such loss making company?

If HJ can not make Air lanka profitable I think there is no person in Sri Lanka to make it profitable. He has improved lot of loss making govt. institutions such as Distilleries , Insurance , Milk foods etc.

Pls read this article carefully. As  I could recall HJ will takeover SRI LANKAN without  debts. Government will absorb all the debts . HJ is a capable entaprenour who could turn around this   venture. See what he did with Sri Lanka Insurance Corp. Consortium for this investlment is also very stong .

I am very much optimistic   and good for  his group of companie and country .

Excuse me, Sri Lanka Insurance was never making losses, they were one of the profitable government owned businesses. Currently also it's doing very in terms of profits

Kovida, there is no question about Haary Js entrepreneurial skills, but it is not fair to say that a financial giant like Sri Lanka Insurance was making losses. They were and are a very profitable government entity. Of course Haary J instilled many good private sector practices in to this government business

Most probably it will be a PPP.(private public partnership) where 51% will be held by government and 49% will be given to private including the management of the company.accordingly debts cannot be excluded.

Sri Lanka Air line loss is mainly due to mismanagement

Even Chinwi know what rajapaksa's did and Yahapalanaya know what this govt did

I hope person like Harry J can do it

I know him when he was Assistant Manager of CWE Export Deparment

Bribes, corruption, inefficiency & indiscipline are common features of state owned enterprises. Past, present & future is same. Regrettably no leader exists to rectify the infectious system.

What a load of rubbish from the great man
You don't need an airline to promote tourism
You need an airline or for MR two to rob the country dry

Maldives, Seyshells or even countries like Egypt have a blossoming tourism industry but no airline

You don't need an airline to promote tourism
You need an airline or for MR two to rob the country dry

Maldives, Seyshells or even countries like Egypt have a blossoming tourism industry but no airline

Let me rephrase it

Their Airlines have no significant role to play in their tourist industry
Sri Lankan probably play a bigger role bringing tourists to Maldives than their so called airline

Here comes our experts.. ready to laugh at other for minor issues..!
What nirowat said is absolutely correct. Maldives didn't have a proper airline until very recently. Even now they don't have an airline that has 10, 20 aircraft.
