THE SHANGAI CAN AVOID A HARD LANDING

The Shanghai Composite Index SHCOMP, +0.37%  has shaved off 37% over the past three months and dipped into negative for the year. In June, the benchmark was up around 60% year-to-date, before investors started dumping Chinese assets because of bubble fears and anxiety over a slower growth outlook. But that slide may be over now, according to SocGen.
“If our economic scenario turns out to be right (subdued tightening in the U.S. but expansionary policy in China, Japan and the eurozone), fears about a Chinese hard landing should be at a peak and related assets probably close to a bottom,” they said.
