It was reported on media ( LBO and Daily Mirror) yesterday that SEC's New Act amendments are being studied by the ministerial committee since June 2013 without sending the bill to parliament.

Given that main objective of the ACT is to give civil and administrative powers to SEC like every other jurisdiction in the world  to make enforcement action less cumbersome and faster I wonder why ministry needs 18 months to study this.  Dr PB Jayasundara is famous for brining controversial new acts to parliament within  months.  Expropriation bill of 2013, Land Alienation bill of 214 are examples. No one was allowed to study these Acts which created havoc amongst investor community.

Bottom-line is PB is not going to allow new SEC Act to be passed. He will block proposed demutualization too.

So who is actually protecting Mafia ?
